Quality control and product care is an on-line short course that covers the principles of quality control and timber inspection, focussing on a specific product that you handle in your own workplace.
You’ll be asked to complete three on-line assignments and take digital photos of the product you select as you carry out the following tasks:
describe the product, including its properties and specifications
inspect sample pieces and identify examples of defects and damage that are outside the compliance limitations for that product
suggest improvements to the way the product is handled and/or packaged to reduce the likelihood or degrade or damage.
The reference sources you’ll consult include the learning materials on this website, plus product brochures, technical publications, industry websites and people who are knowledgeable in these products.
This is a non-accredited course, so there are no formal ‘competency’ requirements. However, your assignments will be marked by our assessor and you’ll receive feedback on your submissions.
Course fee per participant: $145 (inc. GST)
Although the course can be undertaken on its own, the knowledge you gain will be enhanced if you combine it with the Wood technology short course, which provides a more detailed coverage of wood properties, characteristics and grading principles. You may also wish to consider the other non-accredited courses available in this series.
